Summary
Allegorical scene with female figure (History?) seated at center, with tablet and quill; she is surrounded by putti engaged in various activities; in the foreground, at left, a putto playing a lyre, and another kneeling before another and kissing his hand; at right, a putto with a composing stick setting type from a type case, and another carrying a child; two putti hovering above History, with one of them carrying a portrait of Charles II. Various figures in the design are numbered, probably in reference to an accompanying explanatory key (not present).
