Notes
Letter possibly addressed to the Brussels publisher Henry Kistemaeckers, who issued three books of Poictevin. The first of those books coincides with the first letter, 21 April 1883, the last with the second letter 25 October 1885. The reference to "Serails de paris" is almost certainly to Kistemaeckers' 1885 Brussels edition of the work.
Laid into a copy of of François Poictevin's Derniers songes (Paris : Alphonse Lemerre, 1888), presented by the author to Joris-Karl Huysmans, the volume cataloged separately (see PML 198271).
