Ream label for Batchelor's Kelmscott paper, printed in red and black, with the company's monogram in the center and "Mill XXV" at head.
Label used by papermaker Joseph Batchelor & Son to identify the superior hand made laid paper originally manufactured at the Batchelor mill expressly for the use of William Morris for his Kelmscott Press books; Morris was persuaded to grant Batchelor permission to use the "Kelmscott hand-made" label in 1895, in response to reports by Batchelor protesting that other papermakers were imitating his handmade papers. Cf. Peterson.
