From a drawing by Burne-Jones, the design reworked for transfer to woodblock by Robert Catterson-Smith, and subsequently engraved by William Harcourt Hooper.

Inscriptions/Markings
Proof impression, touched by the artist with white and red ink, with instructions to the engraver to remove or retouch various areas of the design, incluing directions to cut off the lines outlining the rocks where they touch the outlines of the figures and left, and a note stating that "The grass about feet wants light" ; signed with Burne-Jones's initials at lower left; numbered "23" at upper left, and "p. 163" at lower right; with a note in red ink at bottom right reading "Corrected Jan 28 '95".
