Notes
Proof impression on laid paper of a wood engraving after a design by Edward Burne-Jones to illustrate the Kelmscott Press Works of Geoffrey Chaucer, page 9, "The knight's tale"; pulled from a block which was evidently rejected, the design being subsequently reengraved for inclusion in the finished volume.
From a drawing by Burne-Jones, the design reworked for transfer to woodblock by Robert Catterson-Smith, and subsequently engraved by William Harcourt Hooper.
Signed with Hooper's monogram at lower right.
