"Printed for Sylvia Beach by Maurice Darantiere at Dijon, France"--Colophon.
"Ulysses was printed for Shakespeare & Company eleven times ... The fourth, fifth, and sixth printings were issued in white covers with title and author printed in blue on the front cover and spine. The fourth and fifth were printed on a thick paper of inferior quality and had "price: sixty francs" printed on the back cover. In the fourth, fifth, and sixth printings the text was corrected for the errata which had been issued with the second and third printings, but more typographical errors which had been discovered were listed as "Ulysses, additional corrections" and included in the regular pagination, pp. [733]-736"--Slocum, J.J., A bibliography of James Joyce, page 25.
Library's copy deceptively bound with false French title and author on spine--Un jour de la vie de Dublin / Jeice--possibly to facilitate smuggling [?]. With fragment from Horace Gregory's review of the novel from the New York Herald Tribune, 21 Jan. 1934, laid in.
