Signed within the plate at bottom right, "A.V. Ostade fecit. et excud."
A later state, after the addition of "et excud." to the artist's signature.

With a note by former owner in pencil on sheet below mounted print: Adriaen van Ostade. Rare epreuve tirée avant beaucoup des travaux faits depuis en différentes fois, principalement le travail très serré à la pointe sèche, produisant l'effet de la manière noire, dans les parties ombres.
