Initialed "Ao" by the artist at lower left.
State IV, with the border strengthened but before the shadows were retouched on the central figure's face and jacket.
Mounted as item 38 into an album of 63 etchings by van Ostade, evidently created by collecter Achille Seilliere (PML 4350).
