Bound in v. 7 (PML 145505) as plates 122-135, of an extra-illustrated copy of The Holy Bible, Oxford : Clarendon Press, 1814-1815 (see Harris Bible PML 145499-06).
A suite comprising engravings of the 12 Apostles, Christ and St. Paul. The legend for each is a phrase from the Apostles' Creed in Latin. The first is signed: HGoltzius jnuen. et sculptor. Ao 1589. The remainder are signed with Goltzius's monogram HG (or HG f., etc.).
Library's copy of the suite of plates has been closely cropped and trimmed to image, with loss of engraved text, numbering, and imprint.
Library's copy comprised of early impressions of this suite of engravings, with identification of the state/edition precluded by the loss of lettering and numbering; some of the plates, however, are watermarked with Crowned Coat of arms of Basel, suggesting that the set may be of the third state (cf. Strauss).
