Inscriptions/Markings
Presentation inscriptions from Aristide Bruant to A. Arnault on the half titles pages of both volumes; with an original watercolor drawing by Steinlen, with his signature, on the half title page of volume 1, showing a street scene with the Madeleine church at right, and an older man embracing a young woman in the foreground at left, with a whippet sporting a coat with a coronet in the lower left hand corner; the design presented as an illustrated partial border, with verses excoriating the upper crust Place de Madeleine inscribed below the half title by Bruant as part of his presentation inscription to Arnault.
