Notes
Suite of 16 prints by Callot; including an etched title plate, a second plate depicting Christ, a third depicting the Virgin, and a series of 13 unnumbered (in this state) prints of the Apostles and St. Paul.
Individual plates lettered "Israel excud."
Library's copy has 12 of the 16 plates comprising the published suite; lacking the first 3 plates, including the title plate and the two plates depicting Christ and the Virgin, and the plate of St. Paul.
Library's copy appears to be a mixed set comprised of unnumbered first state impressions and restrikes, with most of the plates being unnumbered or numbered at foot of image in pen and ink; prints of St. Philip (no. 8), St. Mathias (no. 10), and St. Simon (no. 11), however, are numbered within the plate and are evidently impressions of the later state issued by Jacques Fagnani early in the 18th century.
Bound in v. 8 (PML 145506) as plates 4-15, of an extra-illustrated copy of The Holy Bible, Oxford : Clarendon Press, 1814-1815 (see Harris Bible PML 145499-06).
