Summary
Lord Eldon stands in a field in profile to the right, knees flexed, and bending forward, holding a gun. He wears an absurd shooting costume: a straw hat perched on a short powdered wig with tiny pigtail, a bandanna knotted round his neck, old-fashioned tailcoat, gaiters to the thigh, and laced ankle boots. His game-bag is the Purse of the Great Seal; in this are a cock and goose, the traditional bag of the cockney sportsman. Cf. George.
