Full-length seated portrait of the actor Hugues Bouffé as the miser Grandet in Jean-François Bayard's comedy La Fille de l'avare; Bouffé is shown seated facing 3/4 to the left, clutching a coins in both hands, with his arm resting on a table top at left, the corner of which is strewn with more coins.
