Nineteenth century puzzle toy comprising 33 lacquered wooden blocks in yellow, blue, green, orange, pink, and black. The blocks are arranged in two layers in the box, and they come in two shapes: triangles and rhombi, which can be arranged in star patterns of different colors.
7 blocks are lacking in the Library's copy: 5 triangular and 2 rhomboid.
Such educational play materials, including geometric building blocks, were designed for the education of preschool children by the German educator and founder of the kindergarten, Friedrich Fröbel. They were known as Fröbelgaben (Fröbel gifts).
