A musical marotte doll on a stick with bisque head, open mouth, fixed blue glass eyes, and a blond mohair wig. It is dressed in the original red, light blue, and white silk jester's costume, trimmed with lace, but without bells. The carved wooden stick is a whistle, and a musical device is activated when spinning the handle.

Impressed on the back of the neck is the mark of Schoenau & Hoffmeister: a 5-point star with the letters S H on the outside and PB inside. Above the star, the doll mold number 4700 and a number 10. The Schoenau & Hoffmeister porcelain factory was founded in 1901 and closed in 1953. This doll was probably created between 1901 and 1910.
