Hand colored soft ground etching with roulette by N. Desmadryl after Gavarni; one of a pair of fashion plates published in the journal L'Artiste in 1840 (2nd series, v. 6) under the title "Physionomie des modes", this plate following p. 180.
According to the index to the 1840 volume of L'Artiste on p. 427, the plate was executed by N. Desmadryl, with Mme. Pecquereau responsible for the hand coloring.
Mounted onto bound album leaf measuring 371 x 280 mm.
Comprises plate 14 of a bound volume of published suites and individual plates by Gavarni (PML 141260).
