The ancient of days [print].

Accession number
PML 77269
Creator
Blake, William, 1757-1827.
Published
[Edmonton : William Muir, ca. 1887]
Notes
William Muir's hand-colored facsimile of the frontispiece for Blake's illuminated book Europe, probably colored after Copy D.
Muir's complete facsimiles of Europe by the Blake Press in 1887 had used a copy of plate 1 in his own possession for the frontispiece.
According to Essick, Muir's lithographic image may have been made photographically from an uncolored impression.
This is one of the Library's two copies of the separately-issued prints by Muir (Cf. PML 77268), both of which match Essick's description of the later issues with Muir's numbering, printed framing lines, and a longer beard.
