Notes
Title supplied by cataloger.
Two identical, hand-colored etched sheets are illustrated with various pastoral scenes, displayed in two strips and two circular spaces. The images depict people dining, dancing, playing a game of badminton, and flying a kite. The scenes are framed by garlands of flowers and scroll work.
Housed with three other French prints (PML 88592.1-3)
"Made in France"--stamped on verso of the sheet.
The prints were possibly meant to be cut out and pasted onto two boxes: the circular prints for the lids, and the strips for the sides of the boxes.
One of the sheets has already been cut out, possibly for a box, leaving only one circular and one strip image - and a hole.
"# 41337b? $3.00"--in pencil, partly erased, on recto of one of the sheets.
