Summary
Print shows Earl Charles Stanhope swimming beside a small two-masted boat, dragging it against wind and stream. He takes the form of a figure-head, his right arm outstretched and holding a tri-colour flag. He is pushed forward by a dolphin-like monster wearing a French cockade who pokes at Stanhope's coattails with a trident. A flag, "Equality & Fraternity", is flown from the ship with a liberty cap on its mast. The flowing water is entitled "the current of public opinion". A head projected from the left margin blows a mighty gust of "loyalty" against Stanhope. Cf. George.
