Portions of the prints are cut-out and faced from the reverse side with contemporary silks and brocades corresponding to parts of the costume (découpe) - all mounted on tan wove paper. The remaining parts of the costumes are tinted with watercolor. A few tiny sparkles of yellow mica are applied to the costumes.
Each plate has a descriptive captions in lower margins, with the exception of pl.[1], which is folded, and pl. [4].
Plate [15] does not belong to the set and is not a dressed print. It depicts Czar Peter the Great of Russia, dressed in Turkish costume.
