Incomplete theater with 6 reversible side panels with wooden pegs depicting 2 sceneries of a forest and living parlor with 11 character figures mounted on wood blocks to keep them upright with wires (41 cm).
"According to the Parrington sale cat. lot 664 (14 Nov. 1928), the theatre was given to Mrs. M. Parrington by one of Dodgson's sisters. It is listed as lot 644 in the sale cat. of Dr. John Cresswell Brigham (20 Nov. 1935), and as lot 83 in a later, unidentified sale (not the Eldridge Johnson or Erwin sales)"--Houghton checklist.
