Summary
Frances Barton Abington stands facing right dressed as Scrub in Farquhar's "Beaux' Stratagem," with her hair in tightly curled ringlets (resembling the wig worn by Weston in the part). Her hand is in the pocket of a long, old-fashioned coat worn over an apron. On the wall behind her head is a bust of Farquhar, scowling down at her, disgusted to see a woman play the part. Cf.
