Individual copies of Barbedor's manual typically vary in contents and organization owing to the fact that the author and his successive publishers assembled the copies they issued on spec. Library's copy includes: portrait of Barbedor by Jean Boullanger, letterpress t.p., dedication, and text printed in 46 numbered columns, followed by a table of contents and the author's 1648 letterpress introduction to the reader on 2 leaves; second copy of the portrait of Barbedor by Boullanger, engraved leaf of verse initialed "P.G." and entitled "Scriptura", engraved t.p., and 26 plates in the "Escriture financiere" suite (for a total of 28 plates); and engraved t.p. and 28 plates in the "Escriture italienne bastarde" (for a total of 29 plates).
