This is the genuine ed., with lettering at the bottom of each plate (except the last) being a dedication to a prominent person. There also exists a pirated ed., with the lettering on the plates consisting of explanatory quotations from the text of the poem. Cf. Grässe.

A plate precedes each canto, twenty in all. There are also the frontispiece (the apotheosis of Tasso); the portrait of Empress Maria Teresa, engraved by Felix Polanzani; and another plate at the end of the volume, for a total of 23 leaves of plates.
