Includes illustrated alphabets, fables, Madame d'Aulnoy's "The story of the white cat" and Goldsmith's "Elegy on the death of a mad dog."
Dated ca. 1800 because the short s is used throughout in contrast to other copies of the Elizabeth Newbery version using the long s: the Elisabeth Ball copy, now at the Lilly Library (ca. 1789?) and the Cotsen Children's Library copy (probably not before 1780).
