Notes
Based on Lewis Carroll's Alice's adventures in Wonderland and Through the looking-glass. Walter Slaughter wrote the music for this dramatic version.
Illustrations by John Tenniel.
Based on a type-written letter embossed with the Magg Brothers' seal, this copy of Savile's play is the actors' version printed for use of the performers only, and has been marked by Lewis Carroll himself for Isa and Emma Bowman, who took the characters of Alice and Dormouse respectively. Carroll has underlined certain words which he wanted accentuated, and on page 11 has inserted the work "Puss" after "Cheshire". Also according to the type-written note, for this dramatic performance Carroll wrote a song for the "Ghost of the Oysters" which the Walrus and Carpenter had devoured. He also completed "Tis the voice of the Lobster" so as to make it into a song; both songs appear in this dramatized version.
Housed in red cloth 4-flap folder inside 1/4 red morocco slipcase.
