Notes
An artist's book with two dust jackets.
Title supplied by artist, and inscribed in black ink on front free endpaper.
Other title taken from title page: Catcher in the Rye / [by] Richard Prince.
A variation on Prince's Catcher in the Rye project (2011), with a new title that references Kerouac's On the Road, and uses a misleading black dust jacket similar to Bill English's design for the first American edition of On the Road, but lacking typography on front cover and spine; this second dust jacket is wrapped around the dust jacket for Catcher in the Rye: a novel by Richard Prince, and covers the artist's 2011 edition of his work using Salinger's title and text of the novel.
On verso of title page: "This is an artwork by Richard Prince. Any similarity to a book is coincidental and not intended by the artist."
Created in an edition of 5 copies and 2 artist's proofs.
Library's copy is an Artist's Proof, marked AP 1, signed and dated 2012 in black ink on front free endpaper.
