Collection of 28 preparatory drawings and sketches and 58 wood engraved proofs of illustrations by Gabriel Belot for an edition of Anatole France's short stories, included in v. 14 of an illustrated series of France's works (Paris : Calmann-Levy, 1928). Drawings are executed on paper and onionskin in various media, with multiple drawings affixed to single leave mounts in some instances. Proofs of wood engravings are executed on paper, tissue, and chine, with multiple impressions present of many individual engravings.
Housed with accompanying copy of v. 14 of the series Oeuvres complètes illustrées de Anatole France, entitled Crainquebille, Putois, Riquet et plusieurs autres récits profitables : Crainquebille (comédie en trois tableaux) Le mannequin d'osier (comédie en quatre actes) Au petit bonheur (comédie en un acte) (Paris : Calmann-Levy, 1928).
