The print, along with a companion piece by Coornhert after Heemskerk (see New Hollstein Dutch, Heemskerk, part II, no. 434) is part of a diptych referred to in some sources by the title "Allegorieën op het geloof".
Mounted as item 39 into an album of collected prints, broadsides, drawings, and miscellaneous single sheet items, assembled by former owner Joseph Ames and entitled "Emblematical and satirical prints on persons and professions" (PML 145850).

Summary
Print shows Jesus Christ standing on a pedestal next to the cross at right, with blood pouring from his wounds into a basin with human hearts which Faith cleanses with the blood of Christ with a cross-shaped broom. Some hearts have not yet been wiped clean and contain the symbols of the deadly sins. In the background is Christ with the cross on his shoulder.
