Evidently referring to the notorious sermon, "The perils of false brethren, in church, and state", delivered by English High Church Anglican clergyman Henry Sacheverell on Nov. 5, 1709; the composition of this woodcut is similar that of an etching illustrating a broadside which appeared ca. 1709-1710, attacking Sacheverell, and entitled The High Church Champion and his two seconds.
Mounted as item 35 into an album of collected prints, broadsides, drawings, and miscellaneous single sheet items, assembled by former owner Joseph Ames and entitled "Emblematical and satirical prints on persons and professions" (PML 145850).
