Composed in verse about 1360 and put in modern prose by Jean Drouyn in the late 1470s, this narrative was first printed in 1511. It quickly passed into popular literature, and by the early 17th century formed part of the Bibliothèque bleue.

This edition not recorded by Bechtel, Baudrier or Gültlingen. The woodcuts were previously used in the editions printed by Claude Nourry, whose widow married Pierre de Sainte Lucie.
