Notes
Manuscript of Alfred Tennyson's poem "The may queen", written out by Thomas Dalziel in a calligraphic hand and heavily illustrated throughout with 81 original pen and ink drawings by him.
Text and drawings rendered by Dalziel in black, brown, red, and purple ink, with some minor details touched with color; signed "TBGS Dalziel" on the final leaf.
Although Dalziel may have intended his calligraphic text and illustrations for publication, neither evidently appeared in print during his lifetime.
