Published suite of 14 plates which originally appeared in the journal La Caricature between March 31, 1839 and July 4, 1841; the lithographs were subsequently republished, with minor alterations, in Le Charivari in 1843.
The prints in a later state, with "La Caricature" removed and the imprint of the publisher Bauger added. Cf. Armelhaut & Bocher.
Most plates lettered "Par Gavarni" and "Chez Bauger R. du Croissant 16" below image.
