Text of cantos facing plates.
"The verses of the cantos were translated from the Italian by John Ciardi. The book was designed by Leonard Baskin, set in Monotype Bembo at the Stinehour Press and printed by the Meriden Gravure Company. The translation is used with the permission of John Ciardi and Mentor Books. 2000 copies, each with four original lithographs signed in the plate, have been printed on Strathmore Cover. 100 numbered copies, each containing seven original lithographs numbered and signed, have been printed on handmade Arches. 25 additional copies, containing artist's proofs, are hors commerce. The publisher is The Kanthos Press. The work was finished November MCMLXIII."--Colophon.
