Illustrated with engravings on copper printed on india paper, en chine collé, after Turner by J. Archer, W.R. Smith, J. Scott, John Pye, S. Middiman, C. Heath, and others.
The engravings restruck from plates originally prepared 1819-1823 for Whitaker's History of Richmondshire (London : Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1823), and subsequently reworked for the edition of 1843 (London : J.B. Nichols and Son), and again for the current edition, with the new text by Mrs. Hunt and introduction by Mr. Huish.
"In 1891 the plates were once more reworked (a labour of love) by J.C. Armytage, one of Turner's old engravers ... These impressions are without any lettering, printed on india paper, and mounted on modern plate paper."--Rawlinson, p. 91.
