Ruff identifies this as the first impression, second issue, with revisions and an added appendix of 28 p. (i.e. p. [clxviii]-cxcvi); Todd and Bowden, however, identify this as the third (further augmented) issue, preceded by a second issue of the first impression published in 1808, having 2K extended to a full gathering and gatherings 2L-2U (i.e. the supplement entitled "Ballads from the Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border) and t-y (notes for the supplement) added.
