The side of the woodblock has been marked 82 in ink. According to related material acquired by PML, this block was originally intended to depict September 10th, 2001, but was later used to correspond with the early hours of September 11th, 2001.
PML owns the preliminary pencil drawing of this wood block, marked 'Book of Hours' by the artist, and annotated with textual comments about weather conditions on Sept. 10-11, 2001 (PML 195747); the print of this block appears as plate 79 in the Morgan's copy of the first edition of Book of Hours (PML 195745).
