The textual revisions are falsely attributed to Domingo de Soto on the title-page, probably with the intention of deflecting attention from an attempt to employ editorial principles inspired by François Vatable, Royal Professor of Hebrew at the University of Paris. Domingo de Soto complained about this subterfuge to the Spanish Inquisition, which suppressed this edition and placed it on the Index of prohibited books. The title-page bears the ecclesiastical arms of Bishop Antonio de Fonseca, to whom this work was dedicated by the printer.
