Collection of 75 portraits chiefly executed in pen-and-ink lithograph by Daniel Maclise for Fraser's publisher series of portraits entitled "Gallery of illustrious literary characters", which appeared in that magazine under the artist's pseudonym "Alfred Croquis" from 1830-1838. Some of the plates bear the imprint of the lithographic firm of Engelmann, Graf, Coindet & Co.; collection may include proof or early states, as some plates appear to have been pulled before final lettering.
