First edition in volume form of mezzotints originally issued in parts by Martin between 1831-1835.
"Disheartened by the failure of his venture, Martin sold his remaining Bible prints as well as the plates themselves to Charles Tilt. This publisher issued a proper book containing them in 1838 ... Early copies ... often have fine impressions, since Tilt exhausted the stock of prints he had obtained from Martin before putting his plates to use."--Cf. Ray.
Old Testament scenes, mainly from Genesis and Exodus. Each plate has the appropriate text on the facing leaf.
