A reissue of a print originally published by G. Humphrey, Nov. 29, 1819, and included in Thomas McLean's edition of restrikes of several Cruikshank etchings issued in 1835 with the title: "Cruikshankiana : an assemblage of the most celebrated works of George Cruikshank ...".
A later state and reissue, with "& 1820" added to the title; McLean's imprint, which reads "Aug 1st, 1835" in other recorded copies of his reissue of Cruikshank's etching, shows visible evidence of having been altered here to read "1820", probably sometime after printing.

Summary
Print shows a Hyde Park scene illustrating recent developments in fashionable costume. The figures seem to be portraits as well as types. The men's hats are more extreme, some being higher in the crown; one, grotesquely small, is worn by a dandy who stands against a tree (left) with his hands in his trouser pockets. Collars are more pointed, cravats as high or higher, coat collars are high and rolled instead of low and flat; the wide short trousers have disappeared, and though some are full, some tight, are all strapped under the boot. The women's dresses are still high-waisted, but reach to the feet, much trimmed and bell-shaped. Bonnets are less high, the scoop being more horizontal than vertical. Flat broad-brimmed hats are also worn. Women no longer walk on tip-toe, and their stoop is less pronounced. A conspicuous figure is a very dandified lancer officer, with square-topped plumed helmet, swaggering with legs astride, right hand on hip, supporting his large sabre with the left hand. Those riding and driving are in the middle distance behind the pedestrians. Lord Petersham (left) drives a high gig, with a small groom beside him. The Persian Ambassador is shown riding at right, followed by two of his suite.
