Library's copy annotated in pencil on p. 200 with an improvised revision of two lines of verse from the third stanza of the ballad "Dragut", composed by Sir Walter Scott and evidently dictated by him directly to Harriet Thiébault who received the volume as gift from Scott during a visit to Abbotsford in 1828. Scott's rewrites were subsequently incorporated in later editions of Lockhart's book, with the exception of the word "Turc" which was later changed to "Moor" and the formatting of the printed verses as two lines rather than four lines as they appear in Mrs. Thiébault's dictated inscription.
