Splendid illustrated title of boy seated at writing desk, showing proper posture, with bookcase, globe and drapery to side. The illustration shows how to cut a quill in 9 steps. Plate two headed with illustration of proper way to hold the quill.
Johann Jakob Roschi (1752-1794) was writing master at the Kunstinstitute in Bern; after his death, the present work was completed by his son and successor Jakob Emanuel, who is responsible for the last two plates. The work was also sold in single leaves mounted on cardboard, for use in classes.
Ink inscription on front fly leaf (trimmed) dated 1795.
