Notes
Title from that provided by Patrick Noon for two watercolor paintings, executed ca. 1821-22, representing the right and left halves of this composition; Noon, citing the shoreline visible on the horizon in the painting showing the left hand side of the composition, identifies the setting as the Seine, although earlier sources have traditionally identified the watercolor corresponding to the right hand side of the print as a view of the harbor at Boulogne. Cf. Noon, Patrick. Richard Parkes Bonington : the complete paintings. New Haven : Yale University Press, c2008. No. 49a-b.
