Earliest printings have back cover with publisher's advertisement: "Routledge's shilling toy books," nos. 1-79, with gaps (Walter Crane's titles listed separately), listing "R. Caldecott's picture books" (The house that Jack built and John Gilpin), unnumbered, at end.
