Plate 3A from vol. III, "Miscellany" plate XVIII, is here printed in proof without shading and other work as the lower half of the published sheet. It is printed recto and verso with the same image of gem engraving, the portion for which Blake was responsible. The sheet measures 19 x 24 cm.
Plates appeared in The cyclopaedia; or, Univeresal dictionary of arts, sciences, and literature (39 vol. text, 6 of plates) by Abraham Rees (London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, & Brown, et al., 1820.
The Cyclopaedia was issued in fascicles between 1802 and 1820. This plate appeared in fascicle F, September 1819.
Plates removed from Allan Cunningham's Life of William Blake (Herriman album).
