Portefeuille or letter case with golden decorations. Opens accordion fashion into twelve compartments for holding letters. Lined with purple watered silk. Closed with a decorated bronze writing-stylus with graphite tip.

Binding:
Yellow case in the shape of a book made of celluloid, edges in silver. A golden shield laid on center of upper cover. The covers and spine are decorated with cross-like motifs. Housed in modern 1/4 brown morocco case of grey cloth, spine title gilt, by Julia P. Wightman.
