Lithographed text and 22 plates: 20 crayon lithographs (hand colored) by J.-E. Deshayes and A. Regnault after paintings by Lady Elizabeth Foster and (one only--of Padre Lorenzo) by Lady Bessborough; 1 engraved plate (hand colored) of the Duchess and Lady Elizabeth.
Lithographed title page, with crack beginning to appear.
Name of lithographer appears at the foot of the title page: Moulin script sc[superscript t].
Only 50 copies are supposed to have been printed.
Parallel texts in English and French on opposite pages.
Publication probably arranged by Lady Elizabeth in 1816 when she was then Duchess of Devonshire and would have known Le Comte de Lasteyrie in Rome.
Reproduces 9 of the Morgan Library's 11 original watercolors by Lady Elizabeth Foster, later Duchess of Devonshire (in PML 48176).
