Notes
"Achevé d'imprimer le 30 Octobre 1928, par Lahure."--Colophon.
"Besnard was a painter renowned in his day for his portraits, his genre paintings, and his murals ... One of his patrons was Baron Joseph Vitta, for whom he made a series of twenty-six etchings ... in 1900 ... His ten pen drawings for La dame aux camélias seem to date from the same period. Vitta had them etched in two states by R. de los Rios. Both drawings and etchings passed into other hands after the Baron's death in 1921. Nine years later a single copy of the younger Dumas' was printed in large octavo by Lahure as a setting for them."--Cf. Ray.
A single copy of Dumas' work printed by Lahure to serve as a setting for Albert Besnard's original drawings and two accompanying suites of etchings executed by R. de Los Rios after Besnard.
Unique printing illustrated with 10 original pen and ink drawings by Besnard and two suites of etchings after them bound in at the end of the volume, including a suite of 10 preliminary etchings before letters and a suite of the 10 etchings in their finished state, with the signature of the etcher, R. de Los Rios, etched en point below the image.
