Album containing 7 proof impressions of engravings by R. DeLaunay, B.L. Prevost et Helman, A.J. Duclos et L. Halbou, and P.P. Choffard after 6 designs by Cochin for illustrations for an unpublished edition of Rousseau's Emile, including a touched proof of the engraving for Book II (i.e. "Chiron exerçant le petit Achille à la course") with instructions for the engraver in Cochin's hand below the image and a second impression of this revised plate indicating that Cochin's directions were carried out. Cochin's designs for Emile were ultimately reengraved by Le Mire in large quarto format for inclusion in the 1793-1800 edition of Rousseau's complete works.
Cochin's designs are all signed and dated 1780, with the date of the engraving given as 1782 in the engraver's signtaures on the frontispiece and engraving for book V.

Touched proof of the engraving for Book II inscribed by the artist in pencil: Je voudrais que les lumières des chairs des femmes des deux grouppes du fonds quelques petits poins très legere que les eteignisser un peu a fin quelles ne paroissent pas luisantes. Mon crayon a peut être un peu trop marqué, il ne faut qu'un très faible amortissement. Je crois qu'il sera bon aussi s'affaiblir quelques touches un peu noirs dans le grouppe des huit femmes qui le font venir un peu trop en avant.
